Songs of realization of the Indian Mahasiddha Saraha (Sanskrit: Dohakosha)

"The People's Doha" - The main teaching topic here is that of Mahamudra. There have been many great Mahamudra masters over time who have given Mahamudra teachings and among all these siddhas, the particular instruction that will be given here, comes from a great master by the name of Saraha. He gave various teachings, especially the dohas (songs).  The dohas he gave were of three types.  The doha for the king, the doha for the queens, and the doha for the people.  Among these three, the three cycles of dohas, the song for the king was very concise, for the queens, slightly more detailed, and the one for the people, for the commoners, was the song with the most detail.  That is the one Rinpoche will be teaching on.

Venerable Kenchen Thrangu Rinpoche is the senior teacher of The Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and personal tutor of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Ugyen Thinley Dorje. Thrangu Rinpoche is acknowledged as a great scholar and Master of Mahamudra.
 

The teachings will be held at Thrangu Rinpoche's newly opened institute for advanced Buddhist studies in Sarnath where the Buddha gave the first cycle of Dharma teachings. Sarnath (Deer Park) is a major pilgrimage site for Buddhists. It is a quiet and peaceful area.. The Institute is located just behind the large park and stupa site. Sarnath is about 20 min. by car from Varanasi which can be reached by direct flight or train from Delhi.

Participants may stay at the Institute. The rooms are double occupancy with shared bathroom. If there is enough room, there may be single rooms available.

In addition to daily teachings there will be daily practice and classes in Tibetan language (optional).

Fees for Accommodation and Seminar Fee Accommodation at Vajra Vidya Institute - $10 daily including meals

Accommodation at Golden Buddha - $12 daily (does not include meals). Seminar Fee: -$80

For those staying at V.V.I. or Golden Buddha a $100 U.S. deposit is required in advance.

If registering by e-mail or fax, please send deposit by mail. Balance to be paid at beginning of seminar. All fees can be paid in advance.

ATTENTION:  Thrangu Rinpoche will also give teachings on Powa - the instructions to use
at the time of death.  This teaching will be given on five afternoons during the seminar.
