Dear People,

Two days ago I sent out a letter from Sandy about Ani Yeshe Palmo coming to the Maine retreat and I found out from Tracy Davis that there is an effort to raise money for Ani Yeshe so that she can also give Buddhist teachings in a prison in Missouri.  This would all be part of one trip.

Since Tracy Davis is coordinating this effort, I would appreciate it if you could send all your pledges and donations to her and if you have any questions, please email her.  For all of you who have responded to me, I will forward your email and donations to her.

This is the letter from Tracy:

Dear Friends,

Among his many activities in the world, Thrangu Rinpoche is a spiritual advisor to both the Prison Dharma Network and the Shambhala Prison Community.  Last fall Rinpoche received a letter from an inmate in a Missouri state prison, where a number of men have formed a meditation group and
study Rinpoche's books.  They requested that Rinpoche send a lama to the prison to give them teachings, and he has asked Ani Yeshe Palmo to go.  Unfortunately, the prisoners have no funds to pay her way there, and as a nun Ani Yeshe lives on a small sponsorship that covers her basic living expenses only.

I'm writing on Ani Yeshe's behalf to raise the funds to enable her to make this trip in September and fulfill Rinpoche's request.   Her plan is to travel from her home in England and attend Rinpoche's retreat in Maine, and from there go to Missouri, then return to England.  The cost of her trip will likely be between $1,000 and $1,200, some of which has already been raised by students of Rinpoche's.

Please let me know if you can be of help in this endeavor.  Any contribution you could make toward Ani Yeshe's travel expenses would be of benefit.
(Donations of $50 or $100 would be very gratefully received.)  You would be not only supporting an ordained monastic in her own dharma practice but
also enabling her to give teachings to a group of practitioners in a maximum-security prison who feel a connection with Thrangu Rinpoche.  If you'd like more information about this project, please feel free to call or e-mail me.   Checks should be made out to Gene Kudirka, marked "for Ani Yeshe" on the memo line and mailed to me at the address below.

With many thanks for your generosity,

Tracy Davis
