Dear Sangha and friends,

December 10th

We will be celebrating Thrangu Rinpoche's birthday on Saturday, December 10th. Everyone is invited to come to Vajra Vidya Retreat Center in Crestone at 9:30 AM for a smoke offering and then the giving of a khata to a photograph of Thrangu Rinpoche and the traditional sharing of desi rice.

For those living outside of Crestone we have a number of rooms available at the retreat center for the weekend.

December 15th

There will be a sukavati (Amitabha practice) on December 15th which is a full moon day and also a day in which all of Thrangu Rinpoche's monasteries will be doing the Amitabha sadhana. The will be for persons who have recently passed away.

All are welcome and the actual practice will begin at 2:00 PM. As mentioned in our previous newsletter, this practice which takes the lamas 3 hours to prepare for and 3 hours to do. It is done because individuals in the bardo have minds which are 9 times more clear and they can hear and understand the practice.

If you have someone you want to be included in the practice, please send us their name, date they died, and a picture if you have one. To make a karmic connection to the practice and the person receiving the benefit of the practice, it is suggested that you make a donation to the Sukavati practice. Lama Wangdu and Khenpo Jigme will be doing the preparations, making the tormas, and actually doing the entire practice. If you come, we do have Amitabha texts and you can participate in that portion of the practice.

Other news

We will be closing the retreat center from December 18th to December 26th. On December 27th we will have a retreatant and the center will be fully open.

Blessings in the Dharma,

Lama Karma Wangdu
Khenpo Jigme
