Dear Friends,
With great delight and heartfelt enthusiasm I have resumed the position of Director of the Himalayan Children’s Fund. As most of you know, in late 1999 I turned my efforts toward more concentrated fundraising and the development of our endowment fund while Jane Lawless, Bill Kline, and Christie Turner took over the administration of the annual fund and sponsorship, bookkeeping, and liaison for the nuns, respectively.
In the last five years we have seen enormous growth and interest in all facets of Thrangu Rinpoches’s projects and the activities of the HCF and everyone has done a fine job. Recently, Jane, Bill, and Christie relinquished their positions with the HCF in order to pursue other interests. Therefore, I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for all they have given of themselves. We have all benefited from their kind efforts and we wish them well.
As for myself, I have recently relocated to Los Angeles to continue my fundraising activities and look forward to working with you all again. Not only on behalf of the HCF Endowment Fund but also in every aspect of the HCF. Additionally, I would like to introduce Patricia Myerson-Wilson from Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts who will be replacing Christie Turner as liaison for the nun sponsorship activity. She is a devoted practitioner and hosts the Cape Ann Vajra Vidya Study Group, which Thrangu Rinpoche visited this past October. We welcome Patricia’s capable and willing presence to the HCF.
As in the past, the running of the office will be as “green” as possible. We will continue to use only recycled papers and envelopes and can be “paperless” for those who desire only e-mail communication.
The new postal address for all HCF communication is:

[Please Note: When I am traveling you may see the address as mac.com. This is not a change only additional access for me, and I will receive either address.]

For those of you who are interested in making your contributions through an automatic withdrawal from your bank, thereby making a direct deposit into our bank, please contact me directly and I will provide you with the routing and account numbers and the bank address so that you may easily set this up with your bank.
This year I am happy to report that the Endowment fund is hovering at about $64,000.00 and is invested diversely in several pre-existing socially responsible funds as well as in bonds and a few other equity mutual funds. Many heartfelt thanks to Steve and Hank at Colorado Capital Management who continue to manage this for us out of the kindness of their hearts!
Some of you may be aware that we have been making plans to finally complete the playground at Shree Mangal Dvip School in Boudhanath. An approximate cost of $10,000.00 has been determined for the project which will include better drainage and pumps for the schoolyard as well as equipment for all ages and a rooftop play area on the roof of the first building. Happily, we can begin work on the yard this spring since we have just received a kind and generous donation for half of the amount needed. We still, however, need another $5,000.00 to complete the project if any of you would like to help see this project to fruition!
The school has received help in the computer lab, and new outdoor toilets and showers; the nuns have a new basketball court and are building more rooms. Namo Buddha is still growing and continues to need sponsorship help for the young monks in the branch school. The Namo Buddha Medical Clinic is now underway as well. Vajra Vidya is growing steadily and is always in need of sponsors and assistance.
So as you can see, things are moving along as usual with terrific help from all of you. Your generous support and keen interest is genuinely appreciated by the volunteers of HCF and all the recipients: lay children, monks, nuns, and villagers in Nepal and India. Please continue to be interested and involved. I would also like to accommodate anyone who wishes to volunteer in any way with the HCF. (Any sponsor who has not yet sent his or her 2004 sponsorship donation may now do so at the address given above.)
I am eager to serve you all as is needed, so please feel free to contact me at anytime through whichever method is convenient for you.  I will be in Nepal and India for Rinpoche’s seminars in February and March so please know that communication may be a little slow during this time but I will do my best to respond quickly. Many thanks again and best wishes to Jane, Bill, and Christie.
With Warmest Wishes for the New Year,

Debra Ann Robinson
